The Vigo Heirs announce the donation of Nanda Vigo’s paper archive, declared of particularly important historical interest by the Soprintendenza Archivistica e Bibliografica della Lombardia, to CASVA, Center for Advanced Studies on Visual Arts, a cultural institution of the Municipality of Milan.
Completing a journey begun by Nanda Vigo herself with CASVA Director, Dr. Maria Fratelli, and with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Nanda Vigo’s paper archive finds today a new prestigious public location. The selection of CASVA is due to Vigo’s very close bond with the City of Milan, not only an emotional bond, but also and above all a cultural and professional one. CASVA hosts also the archives of protagonists like Enzo Mari, with whom Nanda Vigo shared her human and professional journey.
CASVA holds the archives of architects, designers and graphic designers, who worked mainly in the Milanese and Lombardy areas. It is a place for conservation, study and valorisation of archives, but also a center for research and meetings relating to architecture, design, graphics and visual arts. It promotes exhibitions and cultural events, as well as publishing an editorial series, “The CASVA Notebooks”.
With this donation, in line with Nanda Vigo’s wishes and with what she had always done in her life, the Vigo Heirs wanted to make her archive as accessible as possible to scholars, students and critics. The Vigo Heirs will work in close collaboration with CASVA and will continue to provide support with the mission of fostering and promoting the work and ideas of the artist, designer and architect.
