Good morning Ms. Bonazzoli,
Thank you for contacting us, contrary to what Artribune did, publishing without even verifying the information provided by Ms. Ravizza.
We are forwarding you the answers to your questions, which will have to not be modified.
Frankly, we did not think we would arouse all this interest. Since bureaucratic processes were ongoing (CASVA donation and others), we were also preparing a response through other media outlets.
Since 2023, when we officially became heirs, we have worked to promote Nanda’s work.
First of all, we wish to specify that the cultural association Archivio Nanda Vigo has refused to finalise more than one agreement, which had even been specified in detail.
We had to create a new site www.nandavigo.org (with the associated effort and costs) because the association, despite expressly acknowledging that the nandavigo.com site is owned by the Cadeo Family, did not hand it over to them.
Today, on the nandavigo.org website, you can read about all the activities we have been promoting for Nanda since 2023, a huge amount in a short period of time, and many projects are in the pipeline for 2025. You can also read about the long-term loans that have all been confirmed by us (as opposed to what was stated) and about the new loans that have been granted.
The Cadeo Family is a family of art and architecture professionals and collectors with an extensive network of relationships. They have always taken part in Nanda’s life. Nanda’s dearest friends, Gino Di Maggio (Mudima), Dominique Stella (Nanda’s curator), Carmelo Strano (Nanda’s biographer) and Mrs. Knes, Mr. Cadeo’s partner, were all a group that hung out with Nanda all their lives through work and friendship. Indeed, it was Mrs. Knes, who has been professionally active in the contemporary art world for forty years, who introduced Mrs. Ravizza to Nanda, as so many people can testify.
As for the house in Via Curtatone it was emptied immediately after Nanda’s death. The San Fedele Museum withdrew, as per its rights and following Nanda’s wishes, the art collection she had donated to them.
We, the heirs, complied with Nanda’s expressed wishes.
As it appears from the artist’s documental archive, she wanted to donate her archives to the CASVA of the City of Milan, which already houses the archives of other great Milanese architects, such as her friend Enzo Mari. And that’s what the heirs did.
Nanda, on the other hand, never envisioned a future for her house in Via Curtatone; she doesn’t even mention it in her will.
The heir designated by Nanda in her will was the Opera di San Francesco, which renounced the inheritance. Nanda left the inheritance neither to us nor to the cultural association Archivio Nanda Vigo, but the Cadeo Family was involved by law. In no document does the cultural association Archivio Nanda Vigo appear as heir and, by the way, Nanda Vigo was never a member of said association. On the contrary, always from the correspondence, it emerges that Nanda Vigo although repeatedly solicited by the Archivio association, never wanted to leave part of her inheritance to it.
We enclose Father Dall’Asta’s denial regarding the artwork “Genesis”, which had never been requested by San Fedele neither to the curator of the estate, nor to us heirs, nor to the Superintendence (Dr. Gnagnetti), a necessary step given that the work is notified. If they had asked us, as the Idroscalo or the Farnesina did, we would have left it with them.
You don’t ask about the Compasso d’Oro, which Artribune accuses us of removing from San Fedele? Father Dall’Asta has already written to the newspaper asking to rectify this false news, as you can read in the attachment.
For the future, the Cadeo Family will continue to comply with Nanda’s wishes with facts and ignoring useless polemics and open letters.
It seems to us “if anything,” that it is the cultural association Archivio Nanda Vigo that wants to fuel useless polemics that, certainly, do not benefit the artist’s memory.
We are preparing the Foundation as requested by will by Nanda. All those named in the will will be called upon to participate in it and “if possible,” as she specified, they will be part of it.
All our best
